The Friends of the Jefferson-Madison Library is a 501c(3) organization. All contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
Your qualifying membership donation entitles you to voting privileges for one year from the date of payment of that donation.
In September 2008 the Friends changed their Friends of JMRL Bylaws (pdf) to expand membership categories and voting rights.
In addition to existing family membership, new categories were approved for senior citizens and students; for members donating their time, and Associate memberships for younger individuals. Voting was also made available to individual members of families.
While family, senior citizen and student voting memberships are obtained by payment of at least the minimum dues appropriate to their category; volunteers may apply for voting membership by donating their time in voluntary service with the Friends.
Individual family members may obtain personal voting rights by paying at least the minimum due for each particular membership category. (Thus a family unit of two adults would, on payment of $20 or more, be eligible for two votes at any membership meeting.)
Student (age 18 or older, currently in school): $5.00
Senior (age 65 years or older): $5.00
Friend: $10.00 – $99.00
Benefactor: $100 – $499
Sponsor: $500 – $999
Patron: $1,000 or more
Contributions in excess of $10.00 are tax deductible.
A new Associate (non-voting) membership is now available to individuals aged 13 to 17 years (inclusive) who donate their time by voluntarily working for the Friends. (Community Service required by another entity (e.g. a court or school) will not qualify for an Associate membership.)
